“I felt like I would work in food service forever. I didn’t see how I would get a career. I wanted to change my life, and become career focused, but I needed help learning how to do that. I now have the skills to work as an administrative professional. I attended school and became a better person, and I now feel hopeful about my job and my life.”
- Rachel King, Peer Support Specialist with Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Firefly Program

Stable housing means that you will have a roof over your head and know where you are going to sleep each night. It does not mean that you own a home or have your name on a lease. Examples of stable housing would be living with a friend or family member, even on their couch, so long as you are welcome to stay there. The following situations would NOT be considered stable: living in your car, on the street, or living in a shelter (except for a residential program where you are assigned your own room or bed).
