Kristen came to UpRise in early 2022 to “break the generational curse of poverty in my family, and get my children out of subsidized housing!” This single mom was working in food service and living in a recovery community as she made strides to regain custody of her children. Kristen was dedicated to her studies at UpRise, never missing a class and taking on assignments with resolve. Through UpRise, Kristen met Jed Dodd, an UpRise Ally and VP with UnitedHealth. After Kristen finished her training at UpRise, she was hired as an Appeals Representative with UnitedHealth. She often reminds us that she loves her job so much, she plans to retire there. Her incredible contributions as an employee have paved the way for three more UpRise Leaders to be hired by UnitedHealth in less than a year.

Since 2018, more than 200 UpRise Graduates have found meaningful, lasting work with Nashville's leading companies.
